I'm Trevor McKendrick. I grew up in LA and have lived in San Francisco, Austin, and New York. I now reside in Utah. Here are some of my beliefs.
I like building businesses. I grew up selling soda on hot summer days to people driving by. And I did tech consulting projects for my parents' friends at church (e.g. restoring lost iPod music).
I spent the last few years building Seis, a consumer bank for US Spanish speakers. We were backed by Y Combinator & other fantastic investors, and grew the business to $10m in annualized revenue 16 months after launching. Ultimately it didn't work out because of changes to Zelle & immigration.
We built a lot of products by fintech standards: a debit card, a credit card (with secured & unsecured lines of credit), and a real cash advance.
If you feel called to start a company you should.
Before Seis I built a Spanish Bible app product that somehow turned into a real business. It was ultimately acquired by a public company, but not before I was featured on Spotify's Startup podcast and blew up the internet for a brief 48 hours as the atheist Bible salesman.
Throughout all of this I've been writing my weekly Monday newsletter. It's the best things I read & find each week – startups, investing, philosophy, and whatever else I find interesting. 10,000+ people subscribe. You should subscribe too.
